I have over 20 years’ experience as a Counsellor in statutory services, the NHS (CAMHS) and local authority. I have a lot of success in helping young people and their families manage complex difficulties and move towards their full potential.

I have also worked within a Charity Parent Support Group, supervising trainee Counsellors from 2005 to 2010 and have supervised other Counsellors within various roles. I have facilitated Introduction and NCFE Certificate Counselling Courses in FE College.

After spending over 2 years working online due to the Pandemic I decided not to return to London and have taken a semi-retirement deal. I have now started my own business as an online Counsellor and Supervisor.

Personal Statement

I build therapeutic relationships based on the Client-centred core conditions of Empathy, Unconditional Positive Regard (respect) and Congruence (genuineness) I have had a lot of success with helping young people and younger adults, as well as parents of adolescents, feel more comfortable within themselves and move towards their full potential. I work with low level mental health difficulties that are not entrenched and relationship and personal identity issues and emotional difficulties.

I am a Client-Centred Therapist with over 20 years experience working with Young People and their families. I am skilled at working with clients to improve mental health. I have extensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection and will always work to empower my client through any disclosure or official process.

I have a strong connection with Young People and their families. I am naturally non-judgmental and empathic. I am anti-racist and believe strongly in standing up for equality of opportunity and diversity.

I also enjoy supervising trainee Counsellors and those in the early stages of their practice. I am open to Supervising any Counsellors online and have been working solely online myself since the start of the pandemic. Having worked online for more than 2 years, and written case and service reviews in that time, I am now convinced that online Counselling is, at least, as beneficial to most clients as in-person Counselling and that for many clients it is preferable.

I have an Integrative Diploma in Clinical Supervision and a good understanding of different modalities, including Psychodynamic and Existential and am happy to look at transference and counter transference within relationships. My primary focus remains Client Centred and I have become skilled at drawing comparisons across modalities.

I am nearly 60 years old and have decided that it is time for me to take things more gently. I have therefore left statutory services to focus on running my, online private practice. I feel that Online Counselling works really well for most clients and is more convenient within our busy lives.
